Louise Glück is the new U.S. poet laureate.
In honor of the occasion here’s a repost from over a year ago, one of my favorite Glück poems:

Fable

Then I looked down and saw
the world I was entering, that would be my home.
And I turned to my companion, and I said Where are we?
And he replied, Nirvana.
And I said again But the light will give us no peace.

  1. it’s reassuring that poetry still makes news, however small the blurb.
    i’ve heard her name mentioned a lot these past weeks, so maybe it’s time to make a trip down to the local bookstore…
