  1. i was always under the impression that women spontaneously combusted if they left a tampon in for more than 12 hours.
also, i’m pretty sure that’s horribly disgusting.

  2. Personally I don’t think anything beats the lady who sued some contraceptive jelly company because she used their product and got pregnant — little did she know you weren’t supposed to spread the jelly on your toast and eat it.

  3. Not that I’ve tried, but I believe you can as the pee hole and the “v” hole are two separate holes, ergo even when tampon is in place there is nothing to block the pee hole.

  4. Apparently the girl in question doesn’t get laid much.. Umm, if you ever forget about it “accidentally” you’ll be reminded quite abruptly that it’s there the minute your boyfriend/husband/one-night-stand shoves his peter in. I remember a story Brian told me about his parents’ neighbors. The husband returned from leave and the first thing that they did when he returned was have sex. The wife got so wrapped up in the moment that she forgot to tell him about the tampon. Needless to say, he ended up shoving it so far into her that they had to rush to the ER!
Anyway, as I’ve been a tampon-user of many years I feel I am qualified to answer the last question.. I’ve peed many times with the tampon still in, it’s no problem at all. The first couple of times it will feel kind of weird, but is otherwise the most efficient way to go unless you like replacing your tampon every time you have to go.
Final tip — move the string out of the pee stream.

  5. how long are you suppoesed to leave your tampon in i herd you could leave it in for 6 hours! then i herd no its 4 hours how long is it really?

  6. u are suppose to leave it in for no longer than 8 hours… i dont think its possible to leave it in for more than a month and i think thats a fake story one because u would smell it… 2 u would probably die from tss.. toxic shock syndrom which is why u are not suyppose to leave it in for more than 8 hours… and if u think a girl cant pea with a tampon in then u are really stupid

  7. shit man, i just found a tampon that had been in for a month. i can pinpointthe night i lost it (while drunk). but i thought i just deposited it somewhere. i have had sex soooo many times with sooo many different guys since then and i have never noticed. have noticed a pretty sick smell tho, but attributed it to birth control. sick no tho, i was masturbatin today and i felt it and had to reach way in and pull. it was the sickest thing ive ever seen in my life. I FEEL GROSS! shower time. allie.

  8. Actually, in reaction to Ching’s comment. I actually just recently left a tampon in for about a month too. I began getting a funny discharge, but I didn’t think anything of it. But no, it didn’t bother me or my husband while we were having sex. Actually, that might have been why I accidently left it there in the first place. We had sex one day, at the end of my period, and it didn’t feel funny (like I had a tampon on) so I never took it out. Especially when the string and tampon was shoved up into the vagina more because of his “Peter”, as you like to call you.

  9. Yeah, its true you can leave it in up to 8 hours but not longer, also, I’ve never tryed to pee with one in but I’m sure its not a good idea, if you have to pee, your in the bathroom anyway so just have a quick change and your good to go!

  10. Well, you are NOT stupid if you forget about your tampon, especially if you live a BUSY life! Out of the 10 years I have had my period, ONE TIME I forgot about my tampon, because it was toward the end of my cycle. I had sex and NEVER knew it was there, because it just gently pushed it up farther into my cervixs….I went to the doctor and he said that it is quite common!

  11. Ok…YES, you can leave a tampon in for more than 8 hours and NOT die from TSS. Not that it is a good idea…ALSO, I believe you can leave a tampon in for a month and not know it. I left one in for 3 weeks accidently, and it didn’t start smelling until the third week! That is when I knew something was wrong! So no, I dont think her story is a fake! Some people live busy lives! And it is silly to think you CANT pee with a tampon it! Pee comes from your uretha, NOT your vaginal opening!

  12. Hi, I just ran into this site, because I just discovered that I accidentally left my tampon in for over 18 hours now…i was freaken out because Im not sure if something bad will happen…Dont know how I forgot about it, and I really don’t remember when I acctualy put it in…….I tend to alternate between pads and tampons during my period…so I guess that makes it easy to forget…

  13. ive tried to pee with a tampon in and it came out of the same hole as the tampon so the tampon was pushed out
is there something wrong with me?
    i only have 2 holes

  14. I’m sorry but how can a person “forget” about their tampon being in them? don’t ya see the string hanging down there when ya pull down ur pants?? Just a question!

  15. i agree…..how can u forget about ur tampon? I have my period but have never used a tampon, cuz im only 13 , but still how do u forget about it?

  16. seriously….like i only have 2 holes down there. and i cant seem to figure out how to put a tampon in. i dont understand im only 15

  17. Wow…Thats a little..Odd? You may be a dude. If you arent sure, ask someone. But yea, tampons are for girls not guys just for your info.Oh, and yea, i got a question tho. Like ok, the first time i put in a tampon it hurt really bad, and the second time not so much but then yea it still hurt liek REALLLLLLY BAD
so yea, im only like 13 so ive havent used one that much, yesterday i put one in and it didnt hurt at all, but then today it hurt really bad, it hurt so bad i couldnt even put it in, sorry if its TMI, but i really need to know if im doing anything wrong or not. and why it hurts so much, and is this normal? HHHHEEELLLLPPP!!!! Please 🙂

  18. Ok, first thing. When using a tampon for the first couple of times, make sure you use a mini. You need to push it up as far as you possibly can. The pain you are getting is from it not being inserted deep enough. You can not push it in too far so don’t be scared you will hurt yourself. When a tampon is inserted correctly you should not be able to feel anything at all.
Weeing is never a problem with a tampon in because you urinate out of the tiny pin sized hole at the top of your clitoris. That is the urethra.
Having sex with a tampon is is not a good idea but will not kill you! It just means there is a good chance it will get pushed in deep and the string will go with it making it hard to get out.
If this happens a good idea to try before seeing a doctor is to try and push it out – like if you were giving birth. (Same feeling as if you were going number two’s – lol).
If this does not work over about an 8 hour period then it is a good idea to go to your doctor that you see about getting pap smears. They will be able to remove it for you.
As for you aeva – just make sure to insert as far as it can go and if you can feel it at the time, remove it and try again. Good luck!!!

  19. OK IM WONDERING WHAT HOLE TO PUT THE TAMPON IN BECAUSE I HAD DISCHARGE COME OUT BUT I DONT HAVE MY PERIOD AND IVE NEVER HAD IT AND IM RELLY SCARED ANDI DONT KNOW WHEN IM GONNA GET IT AND IM RELLY SCAE=RED AND MY MOM IS GONNA GET A PENCIL SIZE TAMPON FOR MI AGE (13) AND I JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT HOLE IT GOES IN AND WHAT ARE THE SIMTOMS BEFORE I GET MY PERIOD THANK U AND IT WILL BE SOO THOUGHT FULL IF U DO GET BACK TO ME THANK U VERY MUCH

  20. Hey there DON’T KNOW.
You are only thirteen and it could be a long while before you get your period. You can be as old as 16-17 so try not to stress yourself about it. You might have no symptoms before it comes. The tampon goes in the hole toward the front of your body. But if you are scared to use a tampon once your period comes you can always use pads. Even go to the local library and borrow a book on menstruation might be helpful for you. Also if you have an older woman to talk to – be it mother, aunty or just family friend. It is nothing to be embarrased about and they should be more than happy to explain what you need to know. Good luck!

  21. i accidently had sex with a tampon on.. i went to the emergneny room to get it out.. but the doctor said there was nothing there… was there anyway it got pushed into my cervix?

  22. Hey Betty
If the tampon was not there then you were probably mistaken about it being in there in the first place. It cannot get pushed in too far that it would not be able to be removed. If doctors could not detect it then be assured that it is not in there.

  23. Anyone can leave a tampon in and forget about it, and it’s actually a very common occurrence. According to my gynecologist she sees it at least once every week. You wouldn’t necessarily notice it if you shoved another one in and pushed the first one way up. You can even put in a diaphragm and have sex and neither you nor your partner will notice. I know, it happened to me! I didn’t notice it until it started to smell and even then when I went to the doctor I thought it was an infection. I was so embarrassed and surprised to find out what happened!!! Then again, I’ve been getting my period for 35 years now, so I suppose it’s bound to happen once in all that time!

  24. I had sex last night with my tampon in. I’m not sure how this happened. My boyfriend acted like he didn’t even know. What are the chances of him knowing. I mean, his penis isn’t huge, its average and we have a daughter together. So I have given birth. Do you think he is keeping it to himself. I am so embarresed.

  25. Okay I read one of these tonight that said that you pee out of a hole near the top of your clitoris, and I just wanted to clear that up because it seems like a lot of young people are reading this. I’m a med student and I know for a fact that you pee out of your ureatha which is below your clitoris and above your vagina.

  26. I had drunken sex a week ago. I am not sure if I took my tampon out. This week a felt like I had a yeast infection. Is that a symopton of possibly having the tampon still in me? Or it could be the fact that I was away last week and was in a wet baithing suit most of the time. How can I check to see if it is still there. I am so freeked out. Someone please help!

  27. Ok…first of all I have left a tampon in after working a 12 hour shift and forgot until the next morning…these things happen, people are not disgusting because of this…and whoever asked if you would see the string…that gets pushed in on a regular basis…anyway…WORRIED: Check yourself to make sure your tampon isnt still in. If you are still having symptoms you may want to visit your doctor. Either you cant reach the tampon, you do have a yeast infection, or the symptoms are that of an STD.

  28. I just realized I had a tampon in for THREE weeks! I had an odor and after sex I had old blood but I thought my period was just wierd and hadn’t finished flushing my system. I called a gyno and the lady said it could be a tampon and it was! I have had SEVERE pain and didnt know what it was. Today I got really sick from it and Im wondering if after you remove the tampon are you safe from getting TSS? My mom had TSS years ago and almost died. After seeing what she went through Im horrified!

  29. im going to the beach tomorrow and i got my period tonight. i tried putting in a tampon and i think it kinda worked but it was sore. i pulled it out and its still kinda of sore. i dont know if i did something wrong. please comment!

  30. what hole do i insert my tampon in??? ive looked but im not sure…i dont want it too hurt either…someone told me too find a sex toy and try putting it in first but i dont know about that…what should i do…where do i insert it …

  31. Well I too just discovered I left a tampon in last period, 2 and a half weeks ago. I must have put one in with one already in there and never realized it. And I have been having sex every weekend with my partner during this time… there was a horrible smell and spotting. I was sure I’d acquired some horrible STD. Lo and behold, the doc gets ready to get a pap smear and says, ‘Oh, there’s a tampon in there.’ So embarrassed. Mortified. Also relieved. She gave me antibiotics for the no doubt bacterial infection.
glad i’m not the only one who’s had this experience! I don’t think I have TSS but wonder what might have happened.

  32. I just found out two days ago that i had left my tampon in i think that is was in there for like 2-3 weeks and i kept noticeing a smell that was way unusual and i had been having some pain in my lower abdomen and finally it was like i could feel something inside well, i found it…it was the damn tampon….i felt all weird and embarassed but, i called the dr. the earliest appointment was the 24th so i am waiting i dont seem to have any symptoms of TSS but, i am very scared. so i know this can happen to anyone and it doesnt mean that your disgusting or should be embarrassed i had been busy and stressed out so between the two it just slipped my mind i dont know how i really forgot but, it has scared me so bad that i really dont want to use another tampon again…..am i still at risk for TSS?

  33. Umm… I just got my first period.. And I am totaly sick of using pads, and I want to use a tampon, I tried a few times but if dosn’t feel very good once I get it about 1/2 way in there. Dose it matter how old you are because I am only 12

  34. Hi guys,
I just realised today that I left a tampon in for 1 week or so! It is easily done as the string was not visible – I too have a busy life and a baby who you have to take into the bathroom with you or she cries – so you never get peace to go to the toilet!
After 15 years of having periods this was the first time I have ever done this, and I couldn’t believe it when I realised it was still there!
For the past 5 days the most horrible smell was coming from my vagina – a bit of clear discharge also that smelt like death!
The smell has now gone and I think everthing is back to normal!

  35. I am 13 years old. and i need to know how to use a tampoon. and i dont know how. Because with a pad it feels like im wearing a dipper.

  36. It doesn’t matter how old you are, kisterkat, but if you’ve only just started getting your period, your flow might not be heavy enough for tampons to be comfortable. If you use a tampon when your flow is very light, it can be uncomfortable and painful pulling the tampon out. Everyone’s different, but I know for myself that the first couple of months I got my period back when I was 12, it was different from how it is now.
I think it’s a good idea until you’ve had your period at least a few times before trying tampons, so that you have a good idea of how heavy your flow is so that you know what sort of tampon will be best for you and how often to change it.

  37. hey, im a guy, im 17 years old. its sorta wierd and creeps me out, but i really wanna use a tampon. one of my friends whos a girl says that it can’t be done. i was wondering if i stuck it up my butt, if it would work, if i left it in for 2-3 hours then took it out. i don’t know what kind to get or anything, i just need help please. help me get the right one, it can be the most painful one too, infact she wants me to get one that would hurt cause i say it won’t. i don’t mind pain, i just don’t want it to get stuck in there, pain is fine. can you answer these things for me. im sorry im a little wierd. i don’t know what size to get either, im not interested in wearing anything else that is girls, but i gotta try a tampon for atleast one time. thanks so much, seriously, its a big help.

  38. hey guys im 14 and i got my period about 4 months ago and when i first tryed to use a tampon it hurt but i tryed one the 3rd time i got my peroid it didn’t hurt i did notice it thought because i am a virgin and they say that if u are u notice it more…and for all the people who say they don’t no wear to put it sometime when u have or don’t have ur period take a mirror and look down there and see the holes..i have never done this but some of my friends have and they say that it has helped but thats all the help i have to give now.
    bye yall

  39. hey i need help. you see i have tryed 2 use a tampon one nd it dint work i dont no if it was goin in the right hole. it was kinda in but it hurt i need help on which hole to put in in and how. as every time i go to push it in it hurts! help!!!!!!!!

  40. i’m 16 years old and a virgin. i’ve been having periods for abou 2 years now, and i’ve always used pads. but about two weeks ago, when i WASN’T on my period, i tried to use a tampon. The pain was un-believable, and i could’t even get it half way up. i’m a virgin!! and i only thought that you only had one whole!!! Please help, Sarah x

  41. kayy…. uhmm i left my tampon in for like 8 and a half hours and like i totally forgot what time iwas suppose to change it and i totally forgot about it and like im scared ill get tss true or false will i?

  42. It is a relief to see that im not the only girl in the world who has done this. I found out today that I had a tampon inside me for 3 months. I was getting some spotting and then bleeding after sex, thinking it was cos i had come off the pill, so i went to the doctor. However, i had this weird feeling that it might be a tampon cos my cervix is very high up as my doctor finds it hard to get a sample for a smear test.At first she did not see it and said nothing was there but then she found it. I do feel embarassed and now have to explain this reason to my boyf but I only went cos he was worried for me… always go with your instincts, i will never use tampons again there obviously not suited for my body, as i have lost 3 others in the past – that i have known about and had to get doctors to take them out.

  43. I am embarrassed myself. I left one in for a week and a half. I too had a smelly discharge. I discovered the tampon. Yes, it is to overlook one. Did anyone who experienced this go see a doctor? If you did, what did the doctor say? Did he/she place you on a medication. I am wondering if I should go to my doctor because of this. Thanks.

  44. First of all, I’d like to answer some questions: The big hole by your butt is where the tampons goes and for 1st time users, make sure your a little wet so the tampon slides in(even if you have to lick your finger and rub it aroungd there-it will help), then make sure your legs are spread far apart (a good way is one leg on the toilet seat and the other on the ground and squat a little to open your vagina up), then make sure it goes up far enough so that there is no discomfort. My very important question is can a tampon get stuck so far that it goes into your actual cervix and requires a doctor to take it out… b/c I have stuck damn near my whole hand in and cannot find the tampon that my fiance may have shoved into my cervix with his long penis… I have no smell but I am late for my period and I just got very sick with flu-like symptoms which don’t really coincide fully with tss symptoms… could these be related?

  45. I am reading this site today as last night before going to bed I went to take out my tampon (I always wear pads to bed as when I was 14 a girl I knew died from TSS and I have been very concerned about it since). The problem was there wasn’t a tampon there. I really don’t remember taking it out. I have felt around and even tried the pushing thing but nothing. I don’t have any blood which makes me think that it is still in there but I had an IUD inserted 5 months ago and my period has been light since then so maybe it is just because the tampon is not full yet and therefore not overflowing?
For the ladies who have found a tampon after a long time how did you find it? How did you get it out? I have felt around a number of times and can’t feel anything. I even asked my boyfriend to see if he could find it (I thought he might be able to get his fingers up further). I can actually feel the wire from the IUD which makes me think I took it out and just forgot? How am I meant to know if it is still in there? Before going to a doctor I want to try everything as I am currently on holiday in a foreign country and obviously don’t have a doctor I can go to.
As for the young girls concerned about using tampons I had a lot of trouble when I first tried, I had had my period for about 2 years before I was successful with tampons. You just need to keep trying, if it hurts take it out and try again. If it still hurts try during your next period. Always use a mini until you are use to them, if you have a heavy flow just change it more regularly. I still get a little pain sometimes when removing them (15 years later) it is normally toward the end of my period when the flow isn’t as heavy and the tampon is still a little dry. If I put it in on the wrong angle I get abdominal pain, I am not sure if this is common and could be that I have a retroverted uterus (this means it falls back instead of forward – sometimes sex is painful too).
For the young girl who tried using a tampon when she didn’t have her period and talked about excruciating pain this is because it would have been dry and therefore it grips to you rather then sliding, it isn’t a good idea to use one unless you actually have your period.
The hole it is meant to go in is the one in front of your bum. If you are unsure or like the girl who thinks she only has two holes look with a mirror and if you still can’t tell go to a doctor. I know it will feel a little embarrassing but the doctor will understand and be very helpful, besides in a few years time you will need to start having paps and going to a doc now will make you less tense then. I would also suggest, if you haven’t, try using one with an applicator, this will help you put it in the right place and ensure it is in far enough.
Good luck and just persevere it will work eventually.
Sorry if this is TMI (I know I mentioned a few things off topic) but I think young girls need to be educated about their bodies and my body is the only reference I have.

  46. I usually work a long day and sometimes forget that I am wearing a tampon. Today I wore one and forgot about it. I left it in for almost 12 hours. I am so nervous. Is it likely that I am going to become sick with TTS? Someone please help me out! Thanks.

  47. Hi,
I’m 14 and I started my periods at 10 – unluckily for me. I have always used pads but I hate the feeling of them, so yesterday I tried to use a tampon (non-applicator).
It was the first day of my period and I managed to get it in, but it really hurt when I sat down or did certain movements. Now I think thats cos I didnt get it in far enough. I took it out after a couple of hours cos it hurt too much, and it was pretty painful taking it out.
Today I tried again, twice, with no success because it really really hurts when I try to insert into my vagina.
Is this because of what happened yesterday? Or am I abnormal? What should I do?
    Please reply, Emz

  48. ok, full on 30 something year old adult here… just wanted to say that i JUST found a tampon that has been in for possibly 5 weeks!!! scary, i know. i don’t have regular periods since i gave birth BUT i had to cut my birth control month short in february b/c i had the stomach flu and in march b/c i was put on antibiotics for a sinus infection. that smell everyone talks about is bacterial vaginosis and can be treated with micronazole gel. i was Rxed it by my OBGyn because of that foul fishy smell that screams B.V. and i was 3 days in to the treatment when i just (20 minutes ago) found the tampon during a shower. i know it’s hard to understand for guys and some women, but you really don’t feel it. i use them very rarely b/c of the weird bleeding since giving birth to my twin boys, so it’s totally possible to lose one. crazy, i know. most importantly, count your blessings that you didn’t get TSS… i only got the bacterial infection which will most probably clear up a hell of a lot better now that the freakin thing is gone. is it gross? of course, but it can happen. i’m a busy working mom that did it.
TO THOSE READING THIS THAT ARE WONDERING WHETHER TO CALL A DOCTOR: yes, do. tell them what you think may have happened and the sypmtoms. totally embarrasing, but not something they’ve never heard of. i’ve decided that my space cadet butt needs to use panty liners when the flow is slowing down.

  49. A few months ago I left a tampon in and had sex. I didnt remember until I went to the bathroom and noticed the tampon’s wrapper that I’d thrown away that morning in the bathroom’s trash can. I freaked out and tried to get it out for at least 15 minutes before I finally succeeded (note: my husband didnt feel any diffence at all during the intercourse and I didnt feel anything, even the first few minutes when I searched for it inside, I was in doubt whether I had actually taken it out or not, until I touched the wire deep inside and realized that I had not). I didnt go to the doctor afterwards though. Now I am so scared that this may be happening again because I have had a constant stomach pain for two days. For the last days of my period, I had sex with my husband a few times. One of the times, I didn’t remember If I had used a tampon and I certainly don’t remember taking the tampon out prior. I tried to search for it but couldnt find anything. Knowing how hard it was before, to find it, I am now scared that the tampon got pushed even deeper than the last time especially because I had sex more than two times afterwards. I feel embarrased to go to the Gyno to ask about this.

  50. LAst night i totally forgot about my tampon being in me and i got caught up in the mood with my boyfriend and had sex when i got home i remembered i needed to take my tampon out…i rushed to the bathroom to see if it was still there and IT WASNT! i felt around for it but there was No sign of the string! i dont know what to do…i cant tell my mom she doesnt know that im sexualy active or that i even have a Boyfiend… WHAT DO I DO?? am i gonna get sick??? COMMENTS PLEASE!!!! or e-mail me AT JHUMP20@aol.com

  51. O.K, I have just realized last night that I had left a slendar tampon in for three weeks..Odor tipped me off, and I went fishing on a hunch. Has never happened before, and I’m 38!Feel a bit stupid but shit happens.Have no other symptoms so far, hope that’s the end of it.Obviously I didn’t invent this move, feel better reading your stories.

  52. Hi, I am almost 15 years old and I started my period about 3 years ago. I always wear pads but now they are getting annoying. I have been trying to use tampons but it never works. I try for sometimes 15 minutes but I can never get it in. Could this be because I am trying with my mom’s super tampons? Should I try with smaller ones until I get the hang of it?

  53. okay. well im 13 and i just put a tampon in. and i dont have my period yet. and is it bad? like.. what if you bleed? is that a bad thing

  54. Dear Oh No,
If you put a tampon in and arent having your period yet then nothing is bad about that but I would suggest taking it out.
I dont really understand the next part of your question but I assume you are askingif your period is bad and nis it bad when you bleed during it? Well, your period is completley normal for EVERY girl as they become a woman nand it is good because if you want to have babies then you must have been having your period for a long time. Also, it is good to bleed when you have your period, that is what it is. A period is when you bleed from your v hole.

  55. Glad I am not the only one. I had the tampon in for almost two weeks. I think parts of it came out in the shower today, and I have had spotting for two days ever since going to the GYNO last week and being diagnosed with BV (she didn’t find it during the exam!). I am not sure how to get the rest out, as the thing seems to have disintegrated, ewe! Anyway, I am going back to the doctor in an hour. Oh yeah, and I dont have health insurance, but I live in MA, so I get free state care. What do you ladies in conservative states do? I would go bankrupt on this sillyness. I am even afraid to move out of MA because I’d lose my GYNO rights, and yes the right to see a physician is a right!

  56. okay i went swiming today..and i wore a tampon when i cam in to pee i didnt see the string….is it possible that its stuck in me….and is their any way of knowing that it is right now..im scared to death…please some one get in contact with me asp….email..thanks…

  57. I am 16 1/2 and i have had my period for about 3 years but i still cant use a tampon. I have a pretty heavy flow on the first couple of days, but i still cant use a tampon. It only goes up like halfway and then really hurts when i try to push it more. everytime i have to take it back out after it doesnt work, and it really hurts. what do i do? and does this mean i wont be able to have sex?

  58. Im 17 and left my tampon in for a few short hours and had sex with my boyfriend. I had never kept a tampon in whilst having sex but surprising enough it works. To my horror after visiting the bathroom after having sex I couldnt find the tampon! It was pushed so far up I could not pull it out at all the strong was no where to be found as well as the tampon.
It was impossible for me to reach it so my partner had to help me get it out as he could reach it alot better. Finally after pushing and proding my lower stomache area I got it out. My advice for anyone thinking of having sex with a tampon is to check that the string is still there often or to remove it while having sex and use a condom! It was very embarassing having my partner help but I was in a panic and wasnt looking forward to a trip to the GP. Its been a few days now and I feel fine and no abnormal effects. I suggest anyone reading this and have realised a tampon is still up there get help just incase you get an infection. Hope this helps

  59. i hav tried tampons for the last THREE periods on my heavy days, and it doesnt seem to work.
the v hole seems like really big, but nothing goes up. then theres a hole near to the butthole which is in the same area as the vagina, and i thought that was it, but i cant get anything up.
i hav 2 push it hard 2 gt it up even slightly and that is rly painful. even if i do gt it up slightly, half of the tampon is still hanging out and it is excruciating. i must b deformed, or have a very small hole. the amount of times i hav tried is 2 much. does the hymen affect it?ow.

  60. Bobbay,
The opining in your vagina really isnt all that big depending on your virginity and age. The hymen will affect it and thats because it is a small piece of skin restrricting access into your vagina and it may be painful because you are stretching it if you are a virgen. Try spreading you legs alot to kind of open you up a bit. Hope that helps 🙂

  78. Hey,
I went to the obgyn today and was afraid that i had Bacterial Vaginosis. When i got in there she did a pap and found a tampon. My last period was like a month ago, so i guess it had been in there since then. I was so grossed out, i was happy that she pulled it out but it smelled so foul and i was so scared that i had BV and that it could form into PID(Pelvic Inflammatory Disease). But hopefully my pap comes back ok and my swab.

  79. I googled “left my tampon in too long” and got onto this blog. What a relief to see I’m not the only one who has made this mistake. With the FOUL odor of the discharge that kept coming long after my period was over, I thought some organ inside me was disintigrating or something. I found the tampon by sticking a finger way up inside my vagina to see if anything felt different, and lo and behold, I could feel it and the string was still in a good position to be able to pull it out. My husband and I had sex with it in and didn’t even notice. I had another tampon in a couple of times (to absorb the awful discharge) without knowing that I actually had two tampons in at the same time.
After some research, I’m very excited to try out the Diva Cup (www.divacup.com), which catches the menstrual flow inside you like a tampon, but does not have the TSS risks like tampons do. And you can leave it in, overnight, and up to 12 hours. No leaks!
I’ll let you know how it works out!

  80. All about the female body:
There are lots of young women who are scared and complaining about trying to use tampons for the first time. My advice is this: for the first couple of periods, just use pads, those are easier to get used to and it’s already stressful enough to have to get used to pads. Get the ones that are thin with wings, it won’t feel so diaper-like, yet you will be able to ensure not getting your period all over your underwear. It’s also helpful to use disposable wipes like Cottonelle when going to the bathroom and wiping, it helps you to feel a lot cleaner.
The female body is not as mysterious as you think. Take a moment and grab a mirror and sit down in the bathroom with your legs wide open and take a look, using the mirror to help you see better. Starting in the front, going down from your belly button… the two long flaps of skin that come together to cover your female parts are the labia. Use your fingers to hold them back and look underneath. The ureatha (the tiny hole from which you pee) and clitoris (a little bump that brings a lot of sexual pleasure) are very close together near the top of the labia, and lower down is the actual vaginal opening, a hole that can vary in size, depending on how stretched the muscles are from sex or childbirth, etc. In young virgins, the hole will only look like the size of a pencil eraser. The vagina can be thought of like a sock inside you, it’s opening and the walls of the vagina can be stetched, that’s what the muscles are made to do – how else can you fit a baby’s head (size of a large grapefruit) through a hole the size of dime? We are born with a tissue up inside the vagina called the hymen. It covers about half of the opening, and that’s why it’s important to use a very slender tampon at first, since there’s not as much stretch and opening when the hymen is still intact. During the first time you have sex, the hymen gets stretched and broken (yes, it sometimes can be pretty painful, but other women have said they hardly noticed, it’s different for everyone), and that’s what the little bit of blood that comes with having sex the first time is all about. Nothing to worry about, it’s completely natural.
Tampons are useful, but can be dangerous, too. Never take risks with a tampon, always change them as much as possible and never leave them in for longer than 8 hours. The vagina has a natural pH balance that keeps bacteria and yeast in check, but when using a tampon, that balance is dissrupted, so it’s easier to have problems emerge with overgrown bacteria, etc, if the tampons are not frequently changed. Always make sure to remove that last tampon, it’s easy to forget about!
First time tampon users: use a tampon with an applicator, use the smallest size possible, RELAX as much as possible (it relaxes your vaginal muscles, and makes it easier to get in), feel the hole with your fingers first, move the labia flaps of skin out of the way, open your legs really wide (one foot on the toilet and one on the floor is a good way to go) and slow push it in as far as you can. The vaginal opening is the tightest part, so if you get the tampon in far enough past the opening, you won’t feel it once it’s in. Push the applicator down to insert the tampon into the vagina, and pull out the applicator and dispose in a trashcan. Make sure you can feel the string sticking out for being able to pull it out later. When pulling out, RELAX as much as possible, and slowly pull it out. If you clench your muscles, it will be difficult to pull out and if the tampon is dry, it will feel scratchy coming out.
GOOD LUCK! And find a woman to talk to, a mom, an aunt, a friend’s mom, a gynecologist. Don’t worry about all the embarrassment… we all go through this. It’s only the men that don’t understand all that well. ALL women go through this, so find someone to talk to and ask questions to!

  81. Wel well well, i posted ‘tampon wrapper in vagina’ on the net and here i landed. Guess what? I had my period a month ago. No probs. Took tampon out etc. Last week i was with the guy I’m seeing and I’d noticed a smell getting stronger. As we were getting up close and personal, he said to me ‘What’s that, there’s something in there, you’ve got something inside you’! I thought he’d lost the plot. Anyway, we didnt have sex and i didnt notice anything, until the smell just got stronger and stronger! Last night we were in bed, and man, i was so concious of the smell cos i couldnt figure it out. He didnt seem worried… I moved my hand down the bed and felt something on the bed… there was the TIP of the plastic wrapper off a Carefree Tampon!! IT SMELT SO BAD! Well, i just couldnt believe it, pushed it aside and hoped he didnt notice! lol! Anyway, smell gone (it disappeared the minute the offending object was moved!), and I am MEGA grossed out… I will never rush the unwrapping process again and make sure i check each tampon before i insert it from now on! Ewwwwwww. I’m just pleased it found it’s way out cos i never would have known it were there. I was beginning to think i might something seriously wrong with me.

  82. i just found out i still had a tampon in for 9 days! i freaked out so much when i found out, i had noticed a wierd discharge and smell, and last friday i had sex with my bf but i was drunk and was sure i took out my tampon, well i guess not, and i found it today :-/ im wondering if i shud go to the doctor? i feel fine, i have maybe a slight headache but prob jus because i was up late last night. what should i do?

  83. i pee and have my period out of the same hole!! I no u think im just crazy but i really do it all comes out of my vigina nothing comes out of the small hole under my clit ….would the dr. be able to tell there was something wrong with me if i didnt tell him??? he didnt say anything and im 6 mos pregnant …..

  84. i had sex this morning i cant remember if i took my tampon out b4 then i put one in afterwards n i started thinking if i took it out from this morning n i cant remember i dont think that i did. i think its still in me i tried feelin around n couldnt feel anything but im pretty sure i left it in there? how can i tell?????
post answers on here bc i gave a fake email n name

  85. I just wanted to know how long the string should stick out of your body to know if you did it correctly. I put one in for the first time and I thought the string should be longer. It doesnt hurt but i can feel it kinda. How long should the string be????????

  86. Its required for swimming at my highschool to wear a tampon and I’ve tried and like some of the other people here, it hurts when I only got it around half way in. I rather stcik to pads but I really don’t have much of a choice.

  87. Hi, I’ve been having my period since I was 9 and I’m now 14. I’ve been wanting to try tampons so I bought the tampax pearl regulars. They’re not even that big and I can’t get the whole thing in, I get about 3/4ths of it in and it feels like I can’t push it up anymore. Should I just try it like that or should I try a smaller size?

  88. Holy crap!
I’m not the only one!! I’m 26 and I feel so embarassed and yet relieved at the same time! For about 1 month or more now I’ve been having this horrible odor, way after I had my period..and I was freaking out because I bathe regularly & never smell down there! I was especially embarassed to be around my boyfriend and get close because of the smell..he even noticed that something wasn’t right. So about 3 weeks ago I gave myself a little check there & kept feeling something odd inside my vagina. I thought something might be growing, it seriously scared me. Then tonight I did one last check…and realized that I could move whatever it was inside, I pulled it out and it was a tampon! Disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told my boyfriend and he was a bit disgusted too…
Not to make you grossed out, but now you won’t feel so bad with your situation, if you ever have one.
I’m tempted to never use them again!

  89. Thank GOD for webpages like this. I, too, suffered from the forgotten tampon syndrome. In fact I just found it. And I still feel dizzy with worry but a little better after reading how often it happens. I have no idea how long the thing was up there and I just popped my last leftover amoxicillin to be on the safe side. I was so embarrassed when my boyfriend and I had sex because I noticed a foul smell and leftover bleeding. Now I know what that’s from :(.
I too, am tempted to never wear them again.

  90. my god i’m kind of relieved. i just found a tampon and i have absolutely no idea how long its been in there, but its been at LEAST three weeks. I’ve had two bacterial vaginosis infections in that time and i was thinking there was something horribly wrong. i found it in the shower because i decided to check it out after the SECOND set of antibiotics seemed to not be working. i’m taking the leftover flagyl i have now and hoping to good god nothing horrible happens to me. does anyone know if there’s a risk to the uterus? could this affect my ability to have children?

  91. Well, i just saw a drawn picture of a woman’s uterus and such… n it turns out the pee hole is located just above the virgina. i heard from some girl saying her bf accidently put his “Peter” into the peehole instead. if the pee hole is above the virgina, is that even possible? im asking this because i too, just found out the pee hole and virgina is different hole… >___

  92. Read this. It’s long but it will answer every question you can possibly think of.
Okay, well I’m 14 years old, almost 15. I’ve been having my periods for about 2 years, so maybe I can help.
First of all, if you’re a teen, your ultimate all-time #1 best-friend-for-life when it comes to periods is your own mother. If you live just with your dad, I recommend talking to an aunt or even to your grandmother about it; the more opinions you can get, the better.
Second, there are a total of THREE holes in your private area. One is so small you can’t even see it, that’s the urethra (the one you pee out of). The one that’s farthest back is your anus (the one you poop out of). The third and final one is your vagina (the one your period comes out of). The outside of the vagina feels softer and fleshier usually than the anus does, so that’s how you can tell if you really have no clue. And, I don’t care who you are, you DO NOT pee out of your vagina. The system for urine and the reproductive system in females aren’t connected at all. By the way, no guy can stick his penis up anyone’s urethra. It’s just not possible, the hole is too small and the penis is too big, no matter what size it is.
Third, inserting a tampon is going to feel weird, especially if it’s only your first or so time. I’ve been using tampons for about 6 months now and inserting them still feels weird; it always will. It’s when the tampon is properly in place that you’re not supposed to feel it. The first 1 to 2 inches of your vagina have the most nerve endings, so you’re going to feel it if it touches there. But when the tampon is fully in it should be higher than that so you don’t feel it.
If you’re having problems like your vagina feeling too small or tight, your muscles may be too tense. It has very little to do with being a virgin. Either you’ve gotten yourself nervous about it not going in perfectly the first time, or you’re just not in a position that opens the vagina enough to allow you to insert the tampon. Either way, take a few deep breaths, spread your legs as much as possible without tensing your thigh muscles, and try again. It does take practice, so be patient.
THE NUMBER ONE TAMPON RULE: DON’T BE SCARED! You’ll be fine. A bunch of people use tampons. Only about 5-10 women in every 100,000 get Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) per year, and of that only 1 to 2 die from it, so your chances are very very very very slim. So don’t worry about it. As long as you wash your hands bfore and after handling a tampon, and you change the tampon every 6 to 8 hours like you’re supposed to, you’ll be fine. I’m not saying don’t be cautious, but there’s a line between cautious and paranoid. It’s just like with anything in life; follow the rules and you won’t get punished. Besdies, most people who are really scared of it don’t know alot about it. The evil you know isn’t as scary as the one you don’t, so learn about TSS. There are books, internet, I even talked with my biology teacher about it and it really helped me knowing that I was talking to a real person.
This might be TMI, but last night I had a tampon in. I’d had it in for about 9 hours (it’s a long story why I didn’t take it out before then, just trust me when I say I wasn’t able to). Then all of a sudden I just threw up. I felt really sick and had bad diarrhea, classic symptoms of TSS. I immediately thought of the tampon, so I took it out as soon as I could (about 30 minutes later). The symptoms persisted. I was sick the rest of the night but was finally able to go to sleep. I woke up the next morning and I felt all better. I came to find out that it was just food poisoning from the restaurant we had eaten at, because my dad had been throwing up too. Moral Of The Story: Pay attention to what your body tells you, but don’t over-react.
So, for all you people who just skipped to the last paragraph, I’ll summarize. Tampons are going to feel unnatural if you’re not used to sticking things up your vagina (which you shouldn’t be if you’re only a teen…). But it takes practice, so don’t give up. TSS is serious, but very rare, so don’t put in a tampon in the morning and then worry about it for the rest of the day. And when in doubt, talk to somebody, preferably somebody besides your friends because they can be just as misinformed as you sometimes. A couple good bets are your mom or your science teacher; they usually know what they’re talking about because they’ve been in your shoes before.
I hope this answered all of your questions. Good luck!

  93. Ok I am really scared. The other night I dont rememember taking out a tampon and i am afraid that it is lodged into my vagina i was wondering if anyone has been able to remove it themselves, I have lost my voice but i think it is because of recent smoking, yet that is a symptom of tss. I am really scared, i have been trying to search for a string but I cant find one. How can you remove it yourself???!?!?!?! I am dying to know.

  94. heey yall*
im 14 and im scared i have TSS.
i left a tampon in for like
9 1/2 hours and my legs are sore and
    i threw up*
do you think i have TSS.

  95. I’m so happy I found this page! I thought I was the only one who had something like this happen to them.
A few days ago I forgot I had a tampon in and I had sex. I didn’t realize until today and I have been trying to find the tampon inside of me but I haven’t been able to yet. I feel like I can’t go deep enough to get it. I want to try and get it out myself before seeing a doctor. Any advice? Please help me out if you can.

  96. heey* i got some advice
i think you should go to the doctor*
i honestly do* dont worry and jus go* okay
now help me* mine is before yours up there*

  97. heey yall.. well my legs have been sore for about a week now* and i left a tampon in for like 9 1/2 hours…when i had my period* do you think i have tss..im scared to death* what should i do* someone please help me*..

  98. Hi I also just found a tampon that had been left in for 3 weeks. As with others that have done the same, i had noticed a horrible smelling discharge. So, I phoned NHS direct and explained what I’d done. The nurse said there was no need to go to the doctor unless the smelly discharge doesn’t go away or if I develope any TSS symptoms. So, to all those who have done the same, don’t panic and hope this helps put your mind at ease!
I will now be counting tampons I think (because she said it was fine to keep using them)!
    Phew!

  99. how many tampons can a chick use at one time….and why dont they make them bigger, and shaped like a throbing dick? chix like that dont they… I dont think they would loose them or forget about them… maybe play with them… possibly an anal insertion tool for the gay comunity… expanding market potential, or muscle retention!!!

  100. I am sooo relieved to find this site! I am so embarrassed and feel like an idiot but I think I may have left a tampon in me as well. My first attempts to google for information did not produce any hits which I took as further proof that NOBODY else is that dumb! But, thankfully, uhmmm…I don’t want to insult anyone so I will just call us busy, not dumb. Oddly, I just had a pap smear done in a routine visit 3 weeks ago and the doctor did not find anything unusual. I haven’t had any foul odor or noticeable discharge, and sex hasn’t felt any differently either. But, my next period came almost 2 weeks early and has lasted for 8 days. With the typical period, there is also like tiny bits of tampon or toilet paper mixed in and those little bits are what now smell like an old tampon. I never bleed longer than 3 days normally and this blood is also bright red at times. I am wondering if an infection can be possible without any pain or tenderness to the area or if maybe this thing is just breaking down and discharging on its own? I would rather not go to the doctor and tell him that a mature mother of two can’t figure out it she’s got something in her stuck inside her or not!

  101. I accidently put in a tampon while one was still up there. It hurt when I did and the minute I stood up off the toilet I knew something wasn’t right. Pulled it out and searched and found the other one. I thought I had already taken it out. Not sure how all your girls can have sex with one in and not feel it.

  102. HELP!!!! I can’t seem to wear a tampon without getting A LOT of pain! Am I doing something wrong? also i just started using tham, so I don’t know. HELP!!!!

  103. thank god for this site. I don’t know how long this one has been in me but its definitely been at least three days. I am so grossed out and I think I’m hallucinating TSS side effects and I am a little embarassed to call my doc. Thank god I found it. same thing as everyone else, just a bad bad smell
Oh my god. I have had sex since then as well When I got it out I pulled it out upside down. I can’t believe that can happen.
I may never use them again

  104. UM so I went to the bathroom this morning, and took out my tampon, from the night before, because today was the day I was finished with my period.
So I took it out, but then realized that there was another one in there! The first one must have been in a day and a half, and then the second one must have only been in one day. [I have serious memory problems]
So I took it out [without any trouble]…but then a few minutes later, my upper thighs started aching. Then I began to get cold. My throat hurt, and my nose was running.
SO I started freaking out, and tried to sleep – but I was too cold. I felt like I was sitting in snow. I put the heat up to 77 [we usually keep it on 70], and got under maybe…5 blankets. I was FREEZING.
So I feel asleep and five hours later, I had to go out.
    SO I felt fine… until I got home…
I started sneezing like crazy…and right now I’m freezing. I’m under 8 blankets. I can’t go to the doctors.
    Does anyone know what happened?

  105. I just found out that i left a tampon in for a week and a half!! ive never done or heard of such a thing, I had some bad smells coming from down there and was like something is wrong and last night i went to the bathroom and the string fell out again! i was so shocked with my discovery but relieved i found it. I too had pain in my abdomen along with the not so pleasent smell. Apparently this is common but i thought i was the only one! Im going to the doctor but hoping everything is allright! im still having pain now i hope i didnt lose 2! im scared but glad the smell is gone now, it was gone almost instantly!

  106. Hey all, just wanted to weigh in. I left a “keeper” in for over a month. This is a reusable cap, like a diaphragm, that is used to collect menstral discharge. I couldn’t figure out the smell. When I finally got in and dug it out, I was freaking too about the long term implications. My doc. said no problem, just DON’T put anything else up there to clean out. As commented earlier, our bodies are a HOT self-cleaning oven, and don’t want to be disturbed by things with different pH. I’m so turned off tampons and keepers that I’m sticking to pads from here on in.

  107. My husband just found a tampon that I had left in after having drunken sex. I thought that I had taken it out, but I did not. It has been in there for a week. Have some antibiotic refill. Should I be on the safe side and just take it? It totally freaked me out. I am 29 years old, and this has never happened before.

  108. today I had to take a crap and was pushing it out and felt something come out of my vagina. I looked to see what it was and it was a disgusting tampon. I was shocked and scared. I think it has been in there for 3 days. I hope I’m not going to die. I feel ok so far.

  109. Whew! Thought I was the only one this embarrassing thing happened to! I’m 36 & have always used tampons with no trouble. Last week my period was almost over & I had sex with my boyfriend while drunk & I assumed I had just removed the tampon before the act & asked him he thought I did too. Yesterday, after seeing a brownish discharge with yucky smell for a few days, I laid down in the shower & fished aorund in there & found the damn tampon that I assumed I had taken out from last week! Really freaked me out & smelled disgusting! But s**t happens, glad to know I’m not the only one! Just weird he didn’t feel a thing during sex that night.

  110. A couple of topics here:
    1) The same thing just happened to me. When I put a tampon in I thought it felt different and wondered whether possibly there was another one I had forgotten to take out. Since it is not good to take out a dry one I thought I’d wait until it was ready then check for another one. Well, I completely forgot. Stupid me. So when it came time to have sex with my bf I went and pulled out the tampon and thought, ew, that’s gross smelling tampon! We were overcome by the grossest smell ever throughout sex and I was so embarrased. It was towards the end of my period so I thought it was just that. I kept noticing a gross smelling discharge so when I was in the shower, decided to clean things out and felt something that I didn’t feel from inside when I touched it. So disgusting, it was an old tampon that was probably in there for 6 days (I’m guessing). I’ve made an appointment with my doctor because it’s important for females to always take their vagina seriously as many things can go wrong. She will probably give me antibiotics and it’ll be fine.
    Now, the other topic:
2)About teens (or pre-teens) using tampons for their first time. My mother had always said, stay away from tampons and that it’s unhealthy to use them. I didn’t listen to her and now looking back I wish I had. My suggestion is, do not use tampons until you are at the age of being sexually active. You want to lose your virginity the natural way not by inserting a tough dry man made object over and over. When I had sex for the first time I didn’t really feel it because I was so used to using tampons. When you’re ready, start by using the lightest or slimmest ones until you feel more comfortable using larger ones (for larger flows) be patient and read the instructions as there is also a picture that can assist. Start with tampons that have a smooth plastic aplicator but make sure the edges are closed before inserting. My other suggestion This is a big one) do not pull a dry tampon out unless you absolutely need to (such as it only went in half way in error). The dry fibers of a tampon can pull and damage the fragile flesh inside your vagina – not good. Wait until it is wet and ready to come out.
    And lastly:
    3) Don’t leave a tampon in longer than 8 hours although I wouldn’t worry enough to see a doctor unless it’s been left in for a couple of days.
    That’s about all!

  111. First time “keeper” here.
Thank god I am not the only one! I have been noticing and odor for the last week and my husband had traces of blood on his penis after sex a few times. I thought I was maybe still spotting. Then I noticed my cervical mucus was a weird grayish color. The smell was so apparent it was embarrassing and increased daily.
While I was in the shower last night I began to hunt around to see if I felt anything unusual. I felt something WAY up inside me. I thought it was a tampon but was not sure because I could only touch it and not grab it. I was terrified and even about to call my husband to come get it out.
After calming myself down I was able to use my thumb and pointer finger and pull it out. It was stuffed up in there and in the shape of a “U” It had been in there for about two weeks. I was so disgusted and mortified!
This morning I started menstruating and I should be ovulating! I was actually looking to see if anyone else started early b/c of this…. we are TTC and I am 35.
Could it be possible that it has messed my cycle up?

  112. Heyy iv’e been reading ur advice and it is really helpful..Im only 14 and today i used a tampon for the first time after being in the shower …. but now my face is really hot and red even though i myself am not hot.. What is wrong with me Could i have tss??

  113. Mee – You should talk to your Mom or the school nurse. It could just be that you’re getting a cold, but you might be sensitive to the tampon and your body is having a reaction. Remember to remove and replace the tampon every 4-8 hours. (I would recommend every 4, because smell can become a factor).

  114. Hi there!
Been reading comments and want to respond. Today I found a tampon that I had obviously left in for several days. I must have already had one in and put another one in. I was wondering why my period had stopped so abruptly. I only found it because I actually teach medical students how to do pelvic exams and was showing a group today how to do a self exam and couldn’t find my cervix!!!!! Thank god I do this job!!!! It smelled AWFUL!!! Just like death as someone said. I hadn’t been having any symptoms (itching/smell/pain) and there was no odor until I opened the speculum.
If you really think that you have a tampon inside and you can’t get it out, go to the doctor or if you have one, you can insert a speculum upside down and use a mirror and flash light and see if you see anything in there. I imagine that you would have to be aware of what looks normal for you though.
For those with questions about anatomy. There are 3 openings “down there”:
    1) You have an opening at your butt – called your anal opening where your poop comes out.
    2) You have a vaginal opening which is where the peins is inserted during sex, where your period (menstral flow) comes out, where babies come out, where you insert barrier methods of birth control (like the sponge, the diaphragm, the ring, & female condoms) and it’s where your gynecologist inserts the speculum to do your pap smear. It is also where sex toys can be used.
    3) the Urethral opening which is between the vaginal opening and the clitoris. In drawings it is usually placed midway between the vagina and the clitoris, but it can be higher or lower. My urethra is VERY close to my vaginal opening, but it is ABSOLUTELY a seperate opening. It is often only as big as a pinhole. THe vaginal opening is MUCH larger than your urethral opening. Your urethra is where your pee comes out. If your urethra is close to your vagina, you may be more prone to yeast infections after sex. It’s a good idea to pee after sex to clear away any bacteria from the vaginal opening. Pee has amonia in it which helps to kill any germs. It’s good for everyone to pee after sex, but especially for women who have their urethra and vaginal opening close together.
Above your urethra – at the top of the “V” amongst folds of skin (usually) is the clitoris. The clitoris is a network of nerves that can lead you to orgasm when stimulated. The tip of the clitoris is very sensitive and it can be painful when touched directly. Some women have large clitorises and some have small ones. There is a LOT of variety out there. The tip is the only part of the clitoris you can see, but the “root” feels like a cord under the skin just above the tip. The clitoris is like a little penis – (or the penis is like a big clitoris) and it can swell and get larger when stimulated.
To the guy who wants to use a tampon:
Why?!!!! You could stick a tampon in your anal opening, but several things would make me recommend that you don’t. 1) you could seriously injure yourself by ripping your anal canal. The anus is not as strong as the vagina and is more succeptible to tearing. You could actually cause yourself to bleed internally if you were too rough. 2) If you inserted a tampon into your anus, all it would do is keep in your poop and make you feel constipated. 3) unlike the vagina, the colon and intestines are VERY long and you could lose the tampon up there – there is “further up” for it to go in the intestines. In the vagina, the cervix prevents the tampon from getting into your abdominal cavity.
About using tampons for the first time: You don’t need to worry about using tampons until you get your period. They are inserted into the vagina. And, as someone else mentioned, you have to insert it pretty far up to not feel it. Most of the nerve endings in you vagina are toward the opening, so you have to get the tampon past that point. Like I said earlier, you can only push it up so far – your cervix will prevent the tampon from going up into your uterus or anything. The “os” – or the opening in the middle of the cervix which expands when you are giving birth – is very small – too small for a tampon to get thru. The cervix looks like a donut and the “hole of the donut” is the “os”
My personal experience with tampons is that I got really frustrated with them for a couple years and just couldn’t use them without being able to feel them – I’d cry – I HATED using pads because my period was soooo heavy and I was always leaking. When I finally learned to use tampons correctly I felt like I’d gotten my life back. I used to think -“there is NO WAY I could EVER forget that I had a tampon in” – but when you are used to using them, you don’t notice that they are there. I would recommend trying to use tampons when your flow is very heavy because the tampon will slide in easier – and there won’t be so much friction and discomfort along the walls of your vagina.
Yes you can pee with your tampon in -since it’s a different opening. But if you don’t move the string out of the way, the string will get wet.
In general – you should try to get a copy of “Our Bodies Ourselves” – it’s a great resource for women about all things having to do with being female.
    Best wishes!!!!!

  115. Using a tampon does NOT make you lose your virginity. Many girls “break” their hymen LONG before they have intercourse (sex). Losing your virginity means having sex for the first time.

  116. **I had a tampon in me for about 24 hours. When i took it out, i developed swelling in my vagina. It itches so bad i cant leave it alone, and it hurts. I also have vaginal discharge and i made an appt for next week at my GYNO. I can’t have sex or do anything normally. Has this ever happened to anyone? Do I have a yeast infection from my Tampon?? HELLLLP

  117. i accidently had sex with a tampon in the other night.. i was drunk and thought i had taken it out.. 2 days later when i went to the bathroom i realized it was still there.. i have bad cramps and a heavier period now.. did something happen?

  118. for the last 3 years my period had usually been ontime and such but since I started having sex about 3 months ago it has started cominging later and I am wondering is this normal? or is my body just screwing with me

  119. im very glad my friend showed me this website. about a month ago i went to sleep and i woke up the next morning and i had swore i put a tampon in that nite before but there was no string hanging out when i woke up so i just thought i didnt put one in, then i noticed about a week later a foul odor smell that smelled like tuna, my bf smelled it to and we thought we were just having sex to much. i have tried to fish around up there and see if i could feel anything but after having a kid(three months ago) things feel a bit different up there so i cant really tell if there is a tampon or not, and im to embarrassed/ scared to call and make a doctors appt. what do you think it is? if anyone has any suggestions email me at supersexychica66@msn.com

  120. Hey, just wanna ask does using a tampon feel like having sex? Just curious. I mean im seventeen and still a virgin.just wanna know…

  121. Ha, well I remember the first time I got my period I had no choice but a tampon, because that was all the school had at the moment.
I had to go through about 5 just to get the god damn thing right. They weren’t in their box, so no instructions!
So I’m almost at the point of just breaking down when I finally figured it out.
    Grr.

  122. ok i was wondering if it is ok if you put a tampon in your vagina if you havent started your period yet?

  123. Yaaa i started my period yesterday and im 14 and well of course im at our beach condo this week!SO my mom said to try one of her small tampons and it didnt work well it did it was just really uncomfortable so i took it out and just wore a pad so at the end of today I bought my own tampons and tryed and it work!playtex sports worked perfectly for me and it helps if you put your leg up on a tub. . .

  124. i tried and failed using tampons for like 2 years. i was too tight it was to uncomfortable. when i started having sex with my boyfriend i began able to use condoms. i think he stretched me out enoguh.

  125. So, I also just came across this site, because I left a tampon in for 3 weeks. I woke up and thought I maybe did not have one, and inserted another, at the end of my cycle, I continued having sex. 3 weeks later, I noticed a crazy smell, and made an appt, then in the bathroom, I went crazy when I saw a string appear. It had been shoved in me for 3 weeks, sex and all. I still wonder if I need to go to the Dr. because I am not sure if this is harmful to my health, even though everything is functioning properly down there. Anybody?

  126. i have found when i insert the tampon there is a skinny skinny piece od skin over the hole i can get a tampon in but its hard to get it out cause its in the way.

  127. soo last night i had sex and then this morning i realized i had a tampon in! now i cant feel it up there or find the string! should i go to the doctors immediatley?

  128. After finding the tampon that I left inside I flushed myself out with water using a large syringe (no needle of course) – the smell immediately went away and there was no long term damage or anything. The only odd thing was that it seemed to bring on my period earlier (the very next morning) – but since then my cycles have been normal and i have been much more cautious LOL Hope this helps those who want to know if anything bad happened. (I posted here 6 months ago after it happened to me)

My tampon is never saturated enough to come out until at least 12 hours after insertion.
    What is wrong with me?

  130. Im scared, that i might have TSS, im 15, and i didnt leave the tampon in long, but my period was havey at first, and i was using super absorbancy, then it got light after i changed my tampon, can i have TSS? Because I am starting to feel nausious and dizzy.

  131. I am about to get my period. Last night I went to the bathroom and felt some pressure and thought maybe it was cramps. Lo and behold out comes a tampon! I now realize what happened-my last cycle was light on the last few days so I was using regular absorbency. Got caught up in the moment w my BF and it was shoved up there far from sex.
I have had no symptoms except the odor. What is my risk range timewise? Would I already have gotten sick by now?

  132. Hi Kai!
I’m a 45 year old woman. You’d think I had done everything! LOL! I just discovered I did the same as you! Again, no symtoms except the odor…I figured it out (geez, it took me long enough!). I called my doctor…happens very frequently! If you’re going into toxic shock syndrome it happens with a few (12-24) hours and you will KNOW…high fever and pain…get to the emergency room asap. You seem FINE and I’m guessing since it’s been a few days that you know that too! It only takes a day or so for the natural “good” bacteria in you reproductive system to take over. Anyone else out there that has this happen…DON’T douche, you might think it will help but it won’t (you kill the good stuff). If you have fever and any pain at all go to the emergency room!! Otherwise, you’ll be fine within a day and “smelling” sweet again!

  133. Am so glad I found this site as well to know I’m not the only one who’s done this! I had sex with my boyfriend about a week ago and noticed this foul smell and a little blood and thought my period was starting about a week early. It just kept getting worse till I broke down and went to OB-GYN. They found a tampon that must have been from my last period a month ago.

The smell was sooo foul, it was really embarrassing, but I’m just relieved to have it out. Now I worry though that I’ll have TSS or BV as a result. Any feedback on this? Also, about douching v. not douching?

  134. Yesterday I was umm masterbating with a (new!) toy, reached in, felt something and had to reach far and hard to pull something soft from up by my cervix. As I was reaching for it I was virtually shitting myself, panicing to what it was….pulled it out and it was a tampon.
It had been there for a week, tampon was mainly saturated in discharge, slightly dusky with blood from my last period and I had no wierd smells, thankgod. Usual slightly musky smell and as I had said, just saturated. It’s been a hectic week as I’ve been working my arse off, but to think in that time I’ve had sex 3 times and played with toys and not discovered it till now, but it was right at the back, so *shrugs* Felt silly to be so careless, but ah well.
I am a uti-prone female so everytime I have sex, I NEED to pee and take cranberry tablets afterwards to keep cystitis at bay. Otherwise I get it everytime I have sex and I had that come up in the past week which may of been part caused/aggrivated by the lost tampon. Cleared it up over the weekend with potassium citrate. But still had tenderness to my vagina, then discovered the lost tampon, it’s since been a day without and my soreness has gone. So I guess the point is, it’s not nice but in some cases you can be fine If it’s for a short period without it progressing to the vaginititus infection thing (where it goes smelly! urgh!)

  135. uhmm well i am 12 and have used tampons for about 2 monthes. it doesnt hurt or anything but at school i hate changing. i feel like if i get a tampon out of my bag someone will see.

  136. Hi, I hope anyone reads this board..
I’m 18, have had sex more than a few times in my life!
A week ago, I put a tampon in for a party, got drunk, came home and thought I pulled it out before bed. The next day I could feel nothing, but I couldn’t remember if I had removed it! I checked the trashcan but had lost count after a few period days.
My regular discharge is quite gross to me, so I can’t tell if it’s really changed.. The length of my period varies also, so I can’t tell if that’s changed either – still bright red, medium light flow after 5 days..
I’ve fiddled about, but I can find neither string nor tampon. I’m worried its gone somehow beyond my vag and into my cervix/womb, wherevers further (forgive my lack of knowledge) I’m mortified to go to the doctor, as I was afraid of this a few months ago but nothing was there..
What are the signs of a left in tampon, other than smell or pain?
I feel a slight pressure in my lower abdomen, but I’m sure I’m just a hypochondriac!
    Please reply asap!
    Thank you

  137. Oh! The reason I was concerned it had travelled too far was that I used a vibrator. Can it push it beyond a doctors view? Aaargh

  138. ok I just have a rel quick question pertaining to the whole leaving your tampon in.I just a little bit ago realized I had a tampon on and the thing is I cant even remember when the heck i put it in! My boyfriend found it while we were fooling around, and I wanted to know could anything happen to him if he placed his mouth down there?

  139. hi i am 14 and have had my period for a year
and i hate pads i want to use a tampon but my mom says i cant because i havent had sex and to wear a tampon you have to have sex she even tryed to call a nurse to tell my you cant be a virgin to use a tampon i told her its not true please help and how bad dose it hurt to put a tampon in?

  140. I recently had a period on the 8th and now i notice a really bad smell. I went to the potty and it came out im really worried. Do you think i have an infection or something like tha? please let me kno asap thks

  141. wow, im thinking I have a never ending pussy, when turns out this happens a lot.. I too.. was noticing a bad smell and wierd discharge and thought i had an std, and my husband had cheated on me.. lol so i hit up the gyno and she advises me i have a bacterial infection and small yeast infection, so she prescribes some antibiotics and a yeast cream insert dealie.. so i rush home too coat my insides with this cream and take my pills to get rid of this nasty smell.. and possible disease, right… about 8 hours later, i go to pee, and the son of a bitch plops right out of me, talk about nasty… i think that yeast cream lubed it up so it could work its way out.. thank god.. my clueless gyno didnt even know it was there, and i havent died from tss which is great.

  142. this board is my favorite find of the week. which is how long i left my old tampon in. at least.
surpisingly enough, i had no discharge, no odor, and no abdominal pain. i had to pee. a lot.
in fact, i was convinced that i was dying of a prolapsed bladder. but when i went poking around, i found the foul smelling tampon.
so now i’m convinced that i’m dying of a bladder, yeast or urinary tract infection instead.

  143. I have left a tampon in twice. Both times the first clue was a terrible smell. I mean, a smell that could clear the room. It smells like death. Both times I had gone to the gynocologist thinking I had some kind of infection: urinary or vaginal. Both times I got put on an anti-biotic after it was removed because it causes a pretty nasty inflamation in the vagina. I’m feeling pretty fluzy sick this time. But wow, I felt so much better within hours of it being taken out. Sure I felt dumb both times, but the doctor said she removes them about once a month from one patient or another.
I should ground myself from using tampons

  144. Oh man! just like some others that left posts on here, I just found a tampon inside of me that I think has been there for over a week!!! I notice a really foul smell a few days ago and wondered what it was. It didn’t even occur to me that it might have been a tampon. Needless to say it was absolutely the foulest thing I’ve ever seen come out of me. It will be a while before I use them again!!!

  145. Hey, ive had my period for a while now, im 12 years old and im sick of using those chunky pads, even when i wear 2 pairs of knickers it still seems to leak out and its annoying me. i know i am putting it in properly though. I would like to use a tampon but i’m not sure wether i should because of my age? i have tried once and it was alright but i had to take it out after about an hour because i could feel it a little and it felt strange. When i pulled it out it was quite hard and i got scared, it came out eventually though. what should i do?

  146. Just returned from the doctors after leaving a tampon in for a month. Had my period a month ago and ever since i’ve had a nasty smell, like dead bodies and some dark brown discharge. Went to the doctors thinking i’d got some kind of infection and to my horror she said it sounded like a tampon was left inside. And sure as she was there it was. I’ve never smelt anything so vile in my life.

  147. If u leave the same tampon in for a month then u need to see a doctor because u could die from that.Oh and somebody please write me back.I am a girl and I want to have sex with someone on line.Oh and i am 12 years old.

  148. More then you will ever want to know about Tampons:
    Young Girls:
Get the Pearl Tampons by Tampax – slender. They will be much more comfortable in the beginning.
    Tampax also makes a teen-tampon.
Never have sex intentionally with a tampon on.
NEVER use a tampon for discharge, only when you are on your period.
If you are having trouble inserting the tampon try it at an angle (the tampon that is) with the tip facing the back
You put a tampon in and tug on the string to make sure it is in place.
You cannot get a urinary tract infection from using a tampon. You can get on from not being clean when you have your period.
A tampon will NOT give you a yeast infection.
If you forget to take a tampon out, take it out as soon as you remember.
If you think there is skin and you cant pull it out, wiggle the string until the tip pokes out.
Tampons do not affect your hymen. Using a tampon does NOT make you lose your virginity.
Tampons do not hurt or feel uncomfortable. If you can feel the tampon, it is inserted wrong or you are very hyper sensitive and will need to ask your doctor (i have never heard of this though)
Tampons go in the same hole that the penis goes in during sex…if you can stick a tampon in it…. it is not your urethra.
A virgin can use a tampon.
TSS has nothing to do with the amount of flow. Flow is different for everyone and each cycle does not have to be the same.
Leaving a tampon in…… is gross, and happens. It happened to me once…. ewwwwww
My skin crawls when I think about it!
But, we are not alone… it happens!
Yes, you can push the tampon beyond view. It will always be retrievable… dont worry… just relax… and dig like mad LOL

  149. Ok, so I’m not sure if i left a tampon in or not. My period has been pretty light for the last 2x’s. I don’t have any discharge, odor, or pain but i still want to make sure I didn’t leave one in. When would the effects start to occur if I had left one in? I get itchy on my lower stomache sometimes, could that be a symptom or am I just paranoid now? I did a self check but I wasn’t really sure what the tampon would feel like. PLEASE HELP!

  150. You would smell something TOTALLY unmistakable in about a week. You would know…. and others too probably (sooooo embarrassed here!)_

  151. Hi,
I actually just had a similar situation. I had a tampon in me for almost a month. I had no idea what was going on, until a week later I had a discharge and foul odor. I kept using light tampons for the discharge, which shoved it even further. I made an appt. and about 3 days prior to the appointment I had sex. Now, I’m not sure if he noticed or not, but it must have been really up there. When I went to the doctor a few days ago, I said I thought that I might have an infection. It was actually at tampon lodged all the way into my cervix. She had to use forceps to get it out! Anyway, she told me that this happens VERY OFTEN. I always thought it was funny hearing stories from girlfriends who had done it … thinking how could they not notice?! But for about a month I didn’t think anything of it!

  152. If there is anything any of you young ladies would care to know about our private parts, I would be only too happy to share all with you, as I have been suffering from what I call “vagina envy” for most of my life. You have all heard of “penis envy”, right? I assure you, that the converse is quite true in many of us. (“The grass is always greener on the other side.”)
I seem to know all about girls and their vulvas. I cannot stop thinking about them. I just could never get enough. I could never be mean or cruel to a girl – I just can’t help but worship them, especially when they are good and do all of the things that society would expect of them.
Write anytime and I will answer anything you need.
    Amanda

  153. anyone who s saying i left it in for 12 hours or something will i get TSS.. you would know about it by now. signs of TSS show up almost instantly so as soon as your body becomes distressed about it you will come up in a rash have vomiting, nausea, diziness and fainting. not all of these symptoms are present you may only have some of them but the mostt common is a rash. if you get any of them then take out the tampon if you are still wearing it and able to get it out and ring your doctor as soon as you can or go to the hospital.
all the teenagers worrying about where the tampon goes, well i am 14 and only recently started my periods i have had them for a few months now and missed a couple so if you do miss some dont worry its normal as your cycle isnt regular yet. There are 3 holes down there one that you pee from your urethra, one that you bleed from vagina and one that you poop from your anus. Dont ask me how i know all this im just quite good at science so anyway… dont ever try putting a tampon in when your not on your period, i know its tempting but dont your hurting rather then helping. When you do come on your period and want to try using a tampon sit down with a mirror pointing at your vagin so you can see it and see where the blood is coming from, clear the hole so you can see it clearly and aim the head of the tampon there and gently push. because most girls my age will be virgins and your bodu isnt used to something being inside the vagina it may feel really hard to get in and uncomfortable. THATS EXACTLY HOW I FELT DONT WORRY. i really needed to know how to use a tampon for cheerleading and swimming but i just felt so uncomfortable with them in. so i tried every time i came on my period and was unsuccessfull for the fist 3 times. on my 4th cycle i thought i should give it another go as i wastn going to let my periods stop me. i relaxed and thought its no big deal you are fine and just took the tampon out of the packet. i have only ever used a tampon with no applicator it seems less fuss and mess. so i aimed it at where the blood as coming from poked around for a bit and then it just slides in if you find the right place which you will if you prod about. push it in as deep as you can stop when you feel it cant go any further or hurts a lot to push. Make sure the string is dangling outside your body and the whole tampon is inside. a trick to se wether its in properly and comfortable is to stand up try and touch your toes and walk and if you can feel it gently tug on the tampon flush it away and try again. your vagina will widen as it will get used to the tampon being there and it will get easier an easier and eventually you will wonder what all the fuss is about. they are so much easier at school as you can change them less regularly and easier to carry round and also if youn are worried about people hearing you change in the toilets well thats not going to happen with a tampon theres no sound 🙂
also for sports in and out of school it is so much more hassle and you can actually forget about your period and feel involved about what your doing unlike pads which just make me feel like im wearing a nappy and make it really hard to sit comfortably and walk
hope i helped some people with this wierdly long message lol
teenagers and people who have just started dont worry it may seem like everything is going to be terrible to start with but really its not just think if you never had periods you would never be able to have children and im sure that would upset you all ! 🙂
    much lovee xx

  154. Help, I’ve gone and lost a tampon up my vagina and I don’t know how it happened. One minute I’m talking to my boyfriend, and he was you know, turning me on and stuff, then after I get off the phone with him I had to pee and I go to the bathroom and I find that I’ve leaked not only from how excited he got me but also my period. The tampon that I had put there like two hours earlier was nowhere to be found. I come from a super conservative family, I had to learn about tampons all on my own and I don’t know how to approach my mom and tell her that I’ve lost a tampon up my vag. Can a tampon just slip up there if you get over aroused and your urm happy juices and your minstrel flow just make your vagina overly wet and slippery?

  155. Im 13 and I only started using a tampon earlier this year. On the first day I had my period, for the first time. I tried a tampon. I was fine, it just slid right in. You just have to relax and if you get all nervous about it your just tense up and it might not fit in as well as it should. With all of these stories about TSS or whatever it’s called I’m tempted to not wear them anymore!

  156. Sarah, Since you are a virgin it can be painful the first few times. Try using the smallest size tampon and remember to relax. Read the instructions from the tampon box. They are informative and help a lot. If you are too nervous it can atually make your vaginal muscles contract. Which will make it harder and more painful to place. Best of luck.

  157. okay. so yesterday i started my period for this month. i woke up, put a tampon in and went about my day.
at about 12 i went to the bathroom to change the tampon. but in that, i guess i forgot to take the other one out. so then i went about my day.
at around 6 or so i went to change the tampon again. not knowing that i had forgoten to take the other one out.
then at around 10 as i was winding down to go to bed, i pulled the tampon out and put it in the trash. then i found another string down there. so i pulled on it and there was another tampon.
so i sat there in shock, wondering how in the world this could’ve happened. then thats when i realized it was from the morning one i had put in, and i had forgotten to take it out when i went to change it at 12.
but i’m 15. i’ve been using tampons fro a while now. but i talked to my mom and she doesn’t think anything will happen. she thinks i’ll be fine. but i’m sorta kinda a hypochondriac. and i stress about stuff very easily. so now i’m scared half to death about getting TSS. the tampon was in from 8 in the morning till 10 at night.
i never wear pads, but since last night, i’ve been wearing them, just to be on the safe side.
so whoever reads this, could anyone tell me what ya’ll think might happen. and if i’m going to get TSS or not?
    thanks 🙂

  158. first, i’ll answer questions, then i’ll ask one to be fair.
bandchikk, i dont really know that much about tampons. my mom never wore one, and now she wants me to do the same. in your situation, you put in 3 tampons at once, forgetting about the last one and the one from before. i’m glad you found all of the strings (i hope), but seeing all the other girls’ stories, i don’t think you’ll die. we’ve had months left in and yours was only 14 hours. though it is over the limit, i think and hope that you will be fine. i’m 13 years old and just started my period and hope to wear tampons soon. i’m also glad that you’re playing it safe by wearing pads at night. most places that know much about this says that you should wear pads at night so that when you wake up, you don’t… erm… “stack” them like in the situation you just told.
now for my question. i’m 13 years old and got my period july 1st, 2008. now it’s august 13th, 2008 and still no period. i know that it needs to get regular, but when will it come? i start school on september 3rd, 2008 and the last thing i need is feeling wet red goo (i know, TMI) in my undies. i will carry pads in my bookbag, but we don’t carry around bookbags in my school. i’m going into 8th grade and need advice. my mom is kookoo about me not using tampons. she says they’re unhealthy, disgusting, and unsafe. i disagree because whoever made ^those stories^ still seem to be alive after what shanannigans they’ve done with their tampons. i can’t persuade my mom into thinking they’re safe and i can’t buy them at a store because i would have to go with my mom. (she’s an overprotective pchyco) if she dare finds tampons in my room, bag, or personal stuff, SHE’LL KILL ME HOPING THE TAMPONS WOULD. right now, i’m getting those free samples from sites like kotex, always, and tampax. they come with like 2 tampons per pack or something like that and that won’t last me. the only thing i could do is after school walk to the store with my friends (the school is in the middle of the town) and get some, then hope on my life, god, and everything else dear to me that my mom won’t find out. PLEASE HELP ME I WILL LOSE MY MIND IF I MUST USE PANTYLINERS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE (technically its only 40-ish years but you know what i mean)!

  159. Bandchick–> you most likely do not have TSS. If your extra tampon was in for less than 24 hours, then you are OK. Google “Toxic Shock Syndrome” and there is a list of symptoms. If you feel you fall under the “sick list” then go to your doctor or to the emergency room to be treated.
Now a question–> After 13 days, I just found a “lost tampon” and I am freaking out a little bit. I have some of the symptoms of TSS but am fairly certain I do not have it for the reason that fever and vomiting was never an issue. I have had a sore throat, headaches, muscle aches and “issues” in the bathroom =(. If I don’t seek medical attention and do in fact have TSS, what would happen?
My biggest worry is if/when I go to my doctor for a blood test, they will send some kind of record in the mail back to my home saying that I went there to get the blood test. I don’t want my mom knowing about any of this for the simple reason that it was pushed up there because of a “night in bed” =). If I ask my doctors not to send any kind of record to my home, will they honor it? I am 20 years old so I don’t believe they can disclose any information that I don’t want to be revealed to family, right? I don’t know… I’m freaking out a little bit! Help?!

  160. Brittany, oh god that sounds real bad. If you have the symptoms, that’s definitely not good at all. You’re not all that young to be “in bed” with a guy, and 20 sounds like a good age to be “in bed”. My question is: was it protected? If it wasn’t then I wouldn’t tell my mom. Protected, I would. Moms want their kids to be safe, and if the blood test also found you got an STD, that would be total, complete hell. Tell your mom either way, no matter how hard, or how mad she gets. You MUST tell her ASAP. If you don’t, I really don’t know what happens. Maybe a yeast infection or something that could spread. I’m sure if you tell the blood taker not to send the results home and you thought of a substitute like picking the results up, they would probably let you. The results would be confidential, so they have no excuse. You’re over 18, and it was a mistake to leave it in. Go get a test and BEFORE you take it, make sure you ask them to keep it so you can pick it up. If they deny that, say that you don’t want their business then and go to another lab. Good luck. 🙂

  161. DO NOT EVER MEET ANYBODY ONLINE AT YOUR AGE… EVER!!!!!!!!!! I am 13 and when you start to go through puberty, you may want to do that. But people online are NOT very trustworthy. They could be lying… about anything! Their age, what they want to do and even their gender! Never and I mean NEVER EVER EVER EVER meet anyone online that you think you might want to have sex with. They can kidnap you and/or kill you! Unless you’re suicidal, don’t do this. Does your mom know? One time I was talking in a chatroom 2 years ago and this random guy was messaging me and he said that he wanted to have sex. I didn’t know anything about him and my mom came into the room and she saw me talking to this guy and she asked me who he was. I said a kid from school, but she didn’t believe me. She couldn’t get an answer so she called the police over to our house. The two guys were questioning me and I felt like a complete moron. At the time i was only 10 or 11 years old and I didn’t even know what sex was. A tip: Don’t EVERRRRRR get yourself into online meeting situations. It’s not worth it. Lose your virginity when your older and to someone you actually care about. If you want it that badly, keep it in and wait another 10 years. Sorry if I disappointed you but it’s true. You’re too young and you might not know what will happen. AND! If you get preggers when you’re 12 years old, you’re gonna be carrying a baby in 6th or 7th Grade and then you’re going to have to get an adoptive mother. Watch the movie, Juno. Really good movie and it explains what’s happening to this 16 year old. She had sex with a guy because she was bored and she got pregnant. She then found a family that would take the baby, but the husband left the wife and then there was this big dispute over who took the baby. The wife and husband got divorced and then the wife took it. Do you want that to happen to you? People stare at you as you pass by looking like a blimp on your belly? NO. Stay safe.
